THE VIRTUAL JESUS
Read John 16:5-15
Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
John 16:7 (NKJV)
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, software platforms tailored for virtual business took off. Everyone turned to these platforms to stay in touch with family, friends, colleagues, business partners, and bosses. Due to pandemic restrictions, which continually changed and evolved, the virtual platforms provided some comfort and a degree of normalcy. Even though we could not be around loved ones, peers, and co-workers, we felt we were still present in their lives. Similarly, right before Jesus left earth, He promised His disciples that His presence would always be with them (Matthew 28:20).
Jesus has assured us that He is ever present with us in the Spirit. Like the disciples, we have that same authority and guidance through the Holy Spirit (c.f. John 16: 5-15). If we choose to serve God daily and surrender our will, we will abide in Christ; no matter where we are on the planet, His Spirit will be with us.
How can we virtually connect to Christ? We study the scripture (John 5:39) and pray daily for the Holy Spirit (c.f Luke 11:9-13). Jesus said we should ask continually and increase in action intensity (c.f. Luke 11:9,10). The apostle Paul says we should pray “without ceasing” and “in everything” pray (1 Thessalonians 5:17; Phillipians 4:6) and shows the synergistic relationship of Christ and the Spirit (c.f. Romans 8:25-28). We no longer rely on virtual platforms to remain connected; however, we mustn’t lose our connection to abiding in Christ.
Prayer Focus: Being led by the Spirit, abiding in Christ.
Prayer: Dear Father, may we see the need to stay connected with Jesus through the power of Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thought for Today: Stay Connected To Jesus.
