THE REVEALER OF TRUTH

THE REVEALER OF TRUTH

Read John 16:5-15

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

John 16:13 (NKJV)

Today at my job, a few coworkers inquired why I believe in the Bible and seek to adhere to its principles. My answer was simple: It is the word of God. God speaks to and instructs us on how we should live through His word. The discussion continued, and soon I realized they did not believe there was a God, and the Bible was just another book of fables.

They acknowledge that only the parts about moral living (Ten Commandments) made sense to them. The overall consensus was that we all hopelessly live until we die. With logical reasoning, they could not accept things like the miracles Jesus performed, Jesus coming to earth, or ever being raised from the dead. We who believe in the word of God know that “the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”  2 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV)

In deep contemplation, my heart ached that, as humans, we cannot see God’s love and care for humanity. With the small window to speak, I shared how majestic God is and that nothing is impossible for Him to do. “Because they cannot fathom all its mysteries, the skeptic and the infidel rejects God’s word; and not all who profess to believe the Bible is free from danger on this point.” (E.G.White, Steps To Christ, 1898, Pg.53)

Daily, we are to study God’s word for ourselves. By our own will and desire, we cannot accept Christ, but by giving our choice to Christ and with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can acknowledge and receive the blessings it entails. The finite mind will never be able to fathom all the attributes of God, which is why He is God. Today allow the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth.
