OVERCOMING TEMPTATION
Read 1 Corinthians 10:1-22
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV)
All humans on earth experience temptations daily. Christ, when He was here, experienced temptation constantly from the devil (Matthew 14:1-11). God never promised us that He would remove our temptations but provide us the ability to endure and be overcomers. Christ was “in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15). Accepting Jesus’s shed blood and living in Him, we can be found blameless and come out conquers.
Furthermore, temptations prove to be a test of our characters; however, through faith, we are firm in our Christian journey. In what appears to be our tragedies, we can get to know Christ more and have a saving relationship. Temptations also show to have beneficial effects for those who overcome them. “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). We can rest assured that whatever temptation comes our way, we have a God who wants us to succeed and have our best interest at heart.
