GOD’S WONDERFUL WORKS
Read Genesis 1:1-31
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth,
Genesis 1:1 (NKJV)
I enjoy painting and drawing. The entire spectrum of color seen in nature is awe-inspiring, so I find it hard to have one favorite color. In my best artistic renderings of God’s creation, I fail to recreate the details only that the Creator’s hand could make. Each day, nature reminds me of Our Creator.
The Genesis account shows the work of God. Six times it says, “And God saw that it was good” (Vv. 4, 10, 12, 18, 21, 25). He spoke, and it was good. Before the end of the sixth day, the bible says, He took another approach when it came to Man. He did not make Man according to their likeness and kind (like he did with the fish, birds, and creatures of the earth), but He said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness” (v.26). God became more personal when He formed man and breathed in his nostrils the breath of life (Chapter. 2:7) and “then God saw everything that He had made and indeed it was very good” (v.31)
The same Word of God who created us in the beginning, in whom all things consist, gave His life so that we might be once again called sons and daughters of God through Him (c.f. John 1:1-13; Colossians 1:16,17, John 3:16,17). The Psalmist had it right, “I will praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well” (Psalm 139:13-14).
