GIVING THANKS ALWAYS

GIVING THANKS ALWAYS

Read 1 Thessalonians 5:12-22

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NKJV)

Here we find a prayer of praise to God for His goodness and provisions. When we acknowledge Christ as the creator and sustainer of our lives, we should rejoice. In every facet of our daily lives, we should be grateful for the daily blessings and remember that “every good gift and every perfect gift is from above” (James 1:17).

The Psalmist wrote, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want” (Psalms 23:1). As children of God, we need to remember that only God is good (Mark 10:18) and everything will work together for good (Romans 8:28) if we remain with our Shephard. Therefore with every opportunity, may we be witnesses to others for the countless blessings we receive. But how is this achievable? By praying without ceasing for the Spirit of God to be present in our lives (c.f. Luke 11:9-13).

Today, let us be thankful for Christ, “the author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews  12:2). He is our Creator, Sustainer, and Savior, for this is God’s will, that we believe in Christ and receive salvation. “Now, therefore, our God, we thank You and praise Your glorious name” (1 Chronicles 29:13).

Prayer Focus: Praise, thanksgiving, and salvation.

Prayer: Dear God, may each day we accept Christ, our reason for being, and in praise and thankfulness, be a witness to someone else. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thought for Today: Give Someone A Reason To Be Thankful.
