FACE YOUR GIANTS
Read 1 Samuel 17:1-58
Then David Said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel who you have defied.”
1 Samuel 17:45 (NKJV)
In today’s age, as I look at all the challenges that the world brings to our Christian walk, I am reminded of the story of David and Goliath. As the Israelite army, day after day, heard the blasphemous taunts of the enemy, not even the king would stand for God. David, a shepherd boy visiting his brothers, knew the God of Israel and would not allow the taunts to go unanswered. With boldness and confidence, David declared to the enemy’s giant, the God he served.
We tend to recoil against what seem to be the enormous and humongous challenges within our Christian walk. We focus on the enemy’s giant and forget who the “rock of my salvation” (Psalms 71:1) is. God never desires that His people become enslaved by the enemy (Exodus 20:2). When we surrender, not to the enemy, but to God, “who can be against us?” (Rom 8:31) Oh, how sweet it is to know that we are “more than conquerors” (Romans 8:37) in the “rock of our Salvation!” (2 Samuel 22:47)
Let’s not listen to the enemy’s giants in the world calling out to us. We have been set apart in Christ, our Lord, and He will hear us when we call to Him. (Psalms 4:3) Never be ashamed to declare your faith and, “with great boldness of speech,” (2 Corinthians 3:12) take your stand for God. The battle does not belong to us, “for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.” (1 Samuel 17:47). With God on our side, no enemy giant will stand.
Prayer Focus: Overcoming Life Giants
Prayer: Oh, Father, it is our prayer today that you will tear down every stronghold that the enemy has set up, and may we be victorious conquers in Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thought for Today: The bigger the giant, the greater the fall.
